Big Walk vs PEAK: My Honest Comparison

Played both of these with the same two friends, and the results could not have been more different.

Big Walk

I’m just going to say it — I didn’t enjoy this one at all, and honestly I don’t think anyone in my group did either. The puzzle setup is the big problem for me: one person can see the answer right in front of them, but instead of just explaining it normally, you have to act it out to your friends like charades — dancing around trying to get them to guess what you mean. For someone like me who’s here for adventure, not a game of pictionary-meets-headache, it just wasn’t fun. It genuinely gave me a headache, and I had some choice words for it because of that dancing mechanic.

We started a session with three of us, and I quit within the first three minutes. Uninstalled it right after. That’s how little it clicked for me.

PEAK

This is where the experience completely flipped. PEAK felt like an actual adventure — like we were three friends on a real mission together. Honestly, it reminded me of going through the gate into the Upside Down to fight Vecna from Stranger Things. That’s the level of immersion it had for our group.

The mountain climbing mechanic stands out the most — one small mistake and there are real consequences. At one point one of my friends made a minor mistake, so I kicked him right off the mountain. He got upset and left the game. I apologized, he came back… and then I kicked him again. Chaotic, but genuinely one of the most memorable gaming moments I’ve had with friends.

PEAK also has the best graphics between the two, and — unlike Big Walk — we actually finished the whole thing together.

The Moment That Stuck With Me

Funny enough, the one memorable moment from Big Walk wasn’t even about the gameplay. During a game, a Neck is giving out a clue, and in the background you can hear his mom yelling something like “Neck, I will kill you if you don’t come to breakfast.”

My Verdict

PEAK, easily. It gave us real memories, better graphics, and an adventure that actually felt worth finishing. Big Walk didn’t land for me or my friends at all — three minutes in and it was uninstalled.
